Self Hosting Videos With Gitea
I decided to jump on the vlogging band wagon because... I might as well face it...Nobody reads anymore. I read actual books every now and again, but I mostly listen to podcasts and Audible.
I attempt to self host as much as possible, but videos have always been a pain in the ass. I tried peertube, but it just wasn't my cup tea. So I tried Gitea. It is my cup of tea. Pun intended.
Gitea is a free and open source Githib style webpage. It is mostly used for software, but] it is possible to host photographs on Github, but videos don't work on the Microsoft owned platform. I first started using Gitea on Start 9 and it's also on Umbrel . You can also use Docker if you're a nerd with Linux ninja skills. Just make sure to back up often. I user cloudflared to host it on the clearnet. You can also find this for Start9 and Umbrel.
Posting Gitea Videos On Nostr
Here's the thing, nobody will search the Google or Duck Duck go your videos on Gitea. I'm not concerned with this because I can post a link on vlogstr), a video vlogging platform on nostr. It is vibe coded by Patrick. I think it's pretty cool, so I made a video about it.
