Using HiveTalk For Meetups

I tried starting a local bitcoin meetup before, as a nym. I had a difficult time getting people to attend at first. Some people thought I was sketchy because I believe privacy is necessary for an open society in the electronic age. I met at a coffee shop that did not accept fiat cash trash, nor bitcoin. I chose that place because a local bitcoin author mentioned he knew the owner on The Bitcoin Infinity Show with @KnutSvanholm.

It's difficult to get in touch with coffee shop owners as a pleb. Emails like mine are often sent straight to spam because hashcash didn't work out like Adam Back hoped it would, but look at the bright side. We have bitcoin.

  • We can buy cheeseburgers at Steak N Shake.
  • All Square clients will accept bitcoin by the end of 2026.
  • Anyone with a lightning address can accept bitcoin.
  • People can choose to accept bitcoin and hodl or the sats can get automatically converted to dirty fiat.
  • We can easily find the lightning address of any business using the nostr protocol.

Bitcoin payments will soon be ubiquitous. We should start bitcoin only meetups to help people ditch fiat cash by opting into peer-to-peer electronic cash. This is part of the reason I want to start a meetup near me: To give back to my community and steer good people away from bad XRP Army junk and other useless casino coins.

The concept is based on Gigi's blueprint from twentyone.world.

I have been lucky enough to meet many Bitcoiners near me,but we live kind of far. Therefore, I thought it would be a good idea to start some online meetups. I also lost access to my Meetup account because of whatever BS fiat reason. That's okay. Meetup attracts video games on a blockchain folks I don't really have time to explain the concept of using bitcoin as a commonwealth on the Internet to. Therefore I will only advertise this meetup on nostr, Telegram, and the Orange Pill App. I also decided to start posting on SubStack Again since they have the spoils of the long-form network effect.
